What is 10xHydro turbine?
10xHydro turbine is a multipurpose turbo generator for recuperating low level energy that is traditionally wasted. Such energy is extracted from pressure reducing devices such as: balancing valves in hydronic circuits, pressure regulators for air, natural gas or LPG, pressure reducers on steam installations and any other installation in need of pressure reducing devices for normal operation. Main feature of the 10xHydro turbine is its ability to harvest energy form low head pressure – thus making it applicable to wide spectrum of installations.
How 10xHydro turbine works?
10xHydro turbine in general utilizes principles of Tesla bladeless turbine. Fluid Shear force is used to generate torque in conjunction with patented integrated axial generator. The generator is compact and versatile with power range from 1W to 800W (depending on fluid type, available volume flow rate and pressure drop).
How can I connect 10xHydro turbine to my system?
10xHydro turbine (current prototype model for beta site installation) has standard DIN 2” thread and DIN DN50 NP16 flange connection for connecting to existing on site pipelines. Turbine can be equipped with adapters as option according to given specifications. Minimum pressure drop for uninterruptable and stable operation should be 0.5 bar (16 ftWC) with flowrates higher than 4.5m3/h (20 gpm).
Where can I connect 10xHydro turbine?
10xHydro turbine can be connected in parallel or series to any pressure reducing device on the system – providing desired pressure drop and flow rate. Turbines can be connected in parallel or series to adjust for the available pressure drop and flow rate if they exceed the capacity of a single turbine.
Does 10xHydro turbine need electricity or connection to electrical system?
At current development stage 10xHydro turbine doesn’t need any additional power to start or operation. Also, no connection to power grid is necessary – turbine possesses its own load and monitoring system. For normal operation, electrical load and monitoring system is controlled through a MPPT charge controller. Buffer battery is provided for continues monitoring of the turbine during the down time.
How to monitor 10xHydro operation?
10xHydro turbine monitoring system is capable of reporting operational turbine parameters (pressure drop and turbine RPM count) via GSM or WiFi network. Also, LED lights installed on site provide visual representation of turbine operation.
Can I use 10xHydro turbine to power equipment/devices?
Yes, depending on the fluid flow rate and pressure drop each turbine can provide up to 800 Watts of electric power for secondary devices. Turbine monitoring system equipped with connections for external loads. How does the turbine start?
After connecting the supply and return hoses, balancing valve at the turbine return needs to get regulated for proper flow rate through turbine. As soon as flow rate and pressure drop exceeds the minimum required values, turbine starts working and recovers energy as electricity. Turbine keeps running as long as flow rate and pressure drop are above the minimum required.
What instruments are provided with turbine?
The turbine package comes with two absolute pressure transducers and one magnetic RPM meter. The pressure transducers have ¼” NPT standard thread which connects to NPT fittings at the turbine inlet and outlet. The RPM transducer connects to the turbine shaft cover via a ¼” standard thread. Pressure and RPM transducers connect to the monitoring module by provided cables.
How does the turbine monitoring system start working?
As soon as the turbine starts generating enough power for the charge control module, the monitoring system powers up and sends interested operational parameters via GSM or Wi-Fi network. There is absolutely no need to touch the monitoring system.
